This wine, which is well rounded with notes of ripe fruit and light vanilla, shows an astonishing fullness in the mouth. This incredible complexity will develop even more over the years. There is great fineness and delicacy which create a rare wine. This wine best accompanies the most refined of dishes, such as lobsters or prawns. After several years of ageing, it will be the ideal accompaniment to fried foie gras.

1 x Chateau Teyssier, St Emilion Grand Cru, 2018,  Bordeaux, France

Wine has been made at the estate since the 1700’s. From the time it was purchased by Maltus it has a completely new team thathas transformed the wine and the estate. Renovation in every sense – estate, vineyard, winery, barrel cellar, and the fundamental approach to making wine means that Château Teyssier is widely regarded as a new-wave, modern-style wine from Saint Emilion. Most importantly the wine is now sought after by a loyal following.

Eighty-five per cent Merlot with the remainder being met by Cabernet Franc, the wine originates from the communes of Saint Sulpice de Faleyrens and Vignonet. These communes provide terroir that produce a wine that may be attacked on release or laid down for a few years. Château Teyssier, is award winning, spicy, velvety, and ripe, but above all, pivots on its expression of fruit. It should drink nicely for 7-8 years.

Since the 14th century when the Popes developed Chateauneuf as their summer palace, the wines of the area have been amongst the best known of the Rhone Valley. Made from Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre grown in pebbly soils, the wine has a lovely deep colour, is full of fruit and flavour and is best enjoyed with steak, pork and game meats.
