Lebanon

The Domaine des Tourelles winery is the second oldest operating winery in Lebanon. Since its foundation in 1868, it has been in private hands, first in the hands of the French Brun family, and now – the Lebanese Issa family. Despite the dramatic events sweeping through the region, wine is still produced there, we import it directly from Lebanon by sea. Paradoxically, it is the harsh conditions that are largely responsible for its excellent quality. No chemicals are used in the grapevines, they are only irrigated by water from the spring thaw, and all grapes are harvested by hand. On the highest slopes, lots of unique endemic varieties, Merweh and Obeidi, have recently been rehabilitated.
